Newmarket Holidays have spent the past thirty years putting together some of the very best value-for-money holidays for their customers. Each of the carefully selected Newmarket Holidays includes the services of a tour manager throughout the duration of the trip to ensure everything runs smoothly and a number of included and optional excursions to allow travellers to experience and appreciate the very best that their chosen destination has to offer, as well as plenty of free time for exploration or relaxation. This Christmas, Newmarket Holidays are offering a festive period with a difference, with a five-day cruise holiday down the picturesque Rhine taking place from December 23rd until December 27th.
The Olympia Christmas River Cruise begins with coach travel from a variety of selected UK pick-up points to the ship docked in Boppard, the ‘Jewel of the Rhine’. Guests will be able to explore the historic town with its Roman fort and beautiful architecture before boarding ship in time for a welcome buffet. Early on Christmas Eve the Olympia sets sail, heading down the Rhine towards Rudesheim and passing many wondrous sights along the way, including the Lorelei, where legend has it that sirens used to wait on the rocks to lure sailors to a deadly end. Travellers are invited to spend time discovering Rudesheim, or take part in an optional excursion to a wine tasting before returning to ship for a Christmas Eve dinner.
Christmas Day itself, the Olympia sails into Cologne for a short stop and then on into Konigswinter, where guests are invited to stretch their legs and view two of the most delightful cities on the banks of the Rhine. A traditional Christmas dinner is served in the evening, followed by drinks and dancing to live music to finish off the day. Boxing Day takes in several more picturesque towns and the option to attend a further wine tasting at Cochem, before returning to the Olympia for the final evening. On 27th December, travellers disembark and set off on the coach journey home, following a magical and unusual Christmas which will be remembered fondly for years to come.
